Exfoliation Is Key!
We cannot stress enough just how important the of preparation by the client is, for a long lasting, even tan. Pre-session exfoliation is essential either the night before or morning of the appointment. Clear away any dry, dead skin cells with a pH balancing exfoliating scrub such as Norvell Renewing Sunless Exfoliator or the Revive Skin Refining Scrub also by Norvell. It is important to completely remove any self tanners from the skin as they can re-develop during the sunless tanning process. If you have any questions on how to do so, please feel free to contact us. We ask that our clients do not use self tanning products at least 3 days prior to their appointment for the best results.
For extreme areas that need exfoliating, use a deep exfoliating mitt, such as Dermasuri, no less than 24-hours prior to your session. The exfoliating mitt visibly removes surface layers of buildup and dead skin instantly. The mitt catches and sloughs off dead cells by simply rolling it off your skin. Revealing your healthy smooth skin underneath.
Day of Session - Don’t Create Sunless Barriers
You should refrain from applying anything to the skin that may act as a barrier between the sunless solution and the skin. Deep penetration is key to beautiful lasting color. For this reason, do not apply:
Lotions
Creams or
Perfumes prior to session.
Also, use Deodorant sparingly.
Manicures, Pedicures, Facials, Massages, Waxing & Hair Appointments should be done before your appointment. However we bring pre-moistened exfoliating wipes available for purchase for our customers who think they may have not exfoliated properly.
We will remind you to remove any makeup prior to the sunless application. We bring wipes to your appointment to remove makeup and deodorant if necessary.
Wear loose fitting dark clothing and remove all jewelry.
After your session wear loose fitting, dark colored clothing. We ask that men wear underwear or shorts that they would'nt mind getting spray tan on during the spray tanning session.
After your spray tan you cannot get wet for 8 hours. This includes showers, exercise, swimming, saunas, or any other activities that may cause you to sweat. • Your first shower should be a luke warm rinse 8-10 hours after your spray tan to remove the excess product from your skin. • During the first 8 hours you should be extremely careful when brushing your teeth, drinking (use a straw) and playing with, breastfeeding, or bathing with your young children. • If you have to go out please make sure to wear long sleeves and pants to protect your spray tan. • If you are driving after your tan, make sure to cover your chest completely so that your seatbelt does not leave a mark across your chest. • Do not wear prescription glasses or sunglasses.
Day to day showering after your spray tan:
*Your first shower should be a luke warm rinse 8-10 hours after your spray tan to remove the excess product from your skin.*
• You should use a gentle hypoallergenic shower gel, that is sulfate-free or all natural.
• When you get out of the shower gently pat your skin dry, do not rub skin harshly as your tan will fade blotchy.
• Do NOT use any type of exfoliating products or shave. This will cause your tan to streak & fade pre-maturely.
• MOISTURIZE- make sure you moisturize skin daily to extend the longevity of your tan. (Dry skin sheds a lot faster than moisturized skin- when your skin sheds your spray tan goes along with it)
What To Wear:
We ask that men wear underwear or shorts that they would'nt mind getting spray tan on during the spray tanning session.
During your spray tan session you should wear dark underwear and strapless bra. Tan lines are optional for women, most girls go topless to avoid tan lines. After your spray tan session you should wear a dark colored loose fitting clothing. Such as: a v-neck shirt, zip up jacket, & dark sweat pants. No overhead hoodies, jeans or tight yoga pants.
Be gentle with your skin, and you will enjoy amazing, long-lasting results.
Do not soak in the bathtub. Avoid long, hot showers as these speed up the fading of your tan by drying out your skin. Do not use a loofah, mesh pouf or washcloth. Do not use regular bar soap or body wash as this can alter the pH levels in your skin. Our recommendation is to use the Norvell pH Balancing Cleanser, which is available for purchase. Do not shave for 24 hours. Always use a fresh razor when shaving. The more frequently you shave the quicker the tan will fade. Try to use lighter pressure if possible. Always pat skin dry. Avoid rubbing with the towel.
Stay Moisturized and Hydrated and Drink lots of water! Moisturize twice a day with Norvell Body Butter. (We sell)
"My Face is Lighter After a Few Days"
Expect the face to fade faster especially if you cleanse, exfoliate or use an astringent every day. Using Norvell 4 Faces, or the Norvell Venetian Sunless Mist for the Face, is the best way to maintain the tan on the face and can be used for touch-ups all over.
This handy little product is super easy to use. Don’t be discouraged that it is a sunless tanner. It’s not scary at all when you think of it as a makeup rather than a sunless tanning spray. The instructions are on the bottle, but we find that most people like to be shown how to apply it. Ask your ThatGlowThough expert to demonstrate it for you at your visit.
